JOB TITLE: Industrial Engineering Technician – Factory Layout & Process Optimization

Club Car boasts a 60+ year history of industry-leading innovation and design. Initially focused on golf cars, it expanded to commercial utility vehicles and personal-use transportation.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Industrial Engineering Technician specializing in Factory Layout and Process Optimization, you will be the architect of our manufacturing footprint. You will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining the spatial and procedural blueprints of our production floors using AutoCAD. By transforming raw facility data into precise, optimized layouts, you will directly influence how safely, efficiently, and quickly our products are built. Your expertise will bridge the gap between initial equipment concepts, new product prototyping, and full-scale factory execution.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- CAD & Layout Lifecycle Management:  Develop detailed plant layouts for new manufacturing processes, equipment installations, and assembly lines using AutoCAD.

- Data Sanitization & Archiving:  Audit and clean up existing, legacy CAD files to ensure our factory master facility drawings are 100% accurate, standardized, and up-to-date.

- Equipment & Workstation Design:  Conceptualize and design custom tooling, racks, and mechanical equipment layouts to support production ergonomics and line-side efficiency.

- Time Studies & Capacity Analysis:  Conduct precise time and motion studies on the factory floor to establish baseline labor standards, identify bottlenecks, and balance lines.

- Material Flow Optimization:  Analyze and map material flow paths to eliminate waste, reduce transit times, and streamline the movement of goods through the facility.

- New Product Development Support:  Partner with design teams to support prototype builds, validating that new product architectures seamlessly integrate into existing or planned factory footprints.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Maintain a safe and productive work environment.

- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

- Must be able to work overtime as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Education:

- Associate degree in Industrial Engineering Technology, Mechanical Drafting, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), or a related technical field, or 5+ years of equivalent layout design experience.

Experience:

- Experience: 2+ years of hands-on drafting or technician experience focused heavily on facility, plant, or workstation layouts within a manufacturing environment.

- Experience utilizing SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor for custom equipment, fixture, or tooling design.

- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) cycles, piloting lines, and managing rapid layout iterations.

- Experience working within high-volume assembly environments (e.g., automotive or heavy machinery manufacturing).

KEY COMPETENCIES

- Advanced Data Analysis: Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel to calculate floor capacity, analyze cycle times, and track key performance indicators (KPIs).

- Technical Literacy: Advanced, fluent proficiency in AutoCAD; strong working knowledge of standard mechanical drafting principles and geometric dimensioning.

- Lean & Industrial Principles: Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts, specifically workspace optimization, standard work, and line balancing.

- Spatial & Mechanical Aptitude: Strong ability to visualize complex 3D physical systems and translate them accurately into structured 2D architectural or mechanical drawings.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Requires occasional lifting of heavy objects.

- Work requires periodic stooping/bending and frequent walking/standing.

- Work involves activities that require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, or vehicles.
