About the Role
Our client, a premier golf resort known for its championship-level facilities, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Golf Course Superintendent to manage the pristine grounds in **Charlotte, North Carolina, US**. This critical role involves overseeing all aspects of golf course maintenance, including turfgrass management, irrigation systems, pest and disease control, and staff supervision. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of agronomy, a passion for golf, and proven leadership abilities. You will be responsible for ensuring the course is maintained to the highest standards, providing an exceptional playing experience for members and guests.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans for the golf course, including fertilization, pest and disease management, and irrigation schedules. Supervise, train, and manage a team of groundskeepers and maintenance staff. Oversee the daily operations of the maintenance department, ensuring efficient use of resources and equipment. Manage the golf course's irrigation system, including scheduling, monitoring, and repairs. Implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies to minimize chemical use. Monitor turfgrass health and condition, implementing corrective actions as needed. Ensure the golf course is maintained to impeccable standards of playability and aesthetics. Manage the maintenance budget effectively, controlling costs and seeking cost-saving opportunities. Operate and maintain all grounds maintenance equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency. Stay current with the latest advancements in turfgrass science, agronomy, and golf course management techniques. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and best practices. Collaborate with golf professionals and management to address course conditions and golfer feedback. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including chemical applications, fertilization, and irrigation. Contribute to long-term capital improvement plans for the golf course. Promote a safe working environment for all staff. Qualifications: Degree or certification in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent at a high-quality golf facility. GCSAA Class A or PGA certification is highly desirable. Extensive knowledge of turfgrass species, soil science, pest and disease identification and control, and irrigation systems. Proven leadership and team management skills. Strong understanding of budget management and resource allocation. Proficiency with maintenance equipment and technology. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed. Passion for the game of golf and commitment to excellence.
