The Golf Club at Rio Vista is seeing a motivated and experienced Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to support the management of the Golf Course Maintenance department. In this role, the Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to oversee daily maintenance operations, supervise and develop maintenance staff, and help ensure the course is maintained to the highest standards of quality and playability. Responsibilities include coordinating work assignments, providing training and leadership to team members, monitoring course conditions, and assisting with irrigation, turf management, and equipment maintenance. The Assistant Superintendent will also help ensure that all equipment is kept in safe working order and that departmental operations comply with company policies and safety standards, fostering a safe and productive work environment for all employees.
Qualifications:
Two- or four-year degree in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field, or hold a Turfgrass/Landscape Maintenance certificate.
Minimum of two years of relevant experience is preferred, supervisory experience a plus.
Knowledge of turf product applications, irrigation systems (Rain Bird preferred), water management, environmental stewardship and sustainable maintenance practices.
California Qualified Applicator License (QAL), or have the ability to obtain within six months of employment required.
Experience applying turf products in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Working knowledge of golf course maintenance equipment, operation, and basic repairs.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, math, budgeting, and computer skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and lead a diverse team through effective communication.
Schedule:
Early mornings to mid-afternoons Monday-Friday. Early mornings on weekends. Every other weekend off. Golf course is open year-round.
