Compensation: $60,000.00 annually Summary: The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Director of Agronomy and Agronomy team to maintain and enhance the golf course to the highest standards. Schedule: Ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules based on course maintenance needs. Key Responsibilities: Assists the Director of Agronomy with the daily operation and maintenance of the golf course and surrounding grounds. Supervises and directs members of the golf course maintenance staff in the absence of the Superintendent. Assists with daily scheduling, crew assignments, and completion of maintenance tasks. Maintains greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and landscaped areas to exceptional standards. Assists with mowing, fertilization, irrigation, chemical applications, aerification, topdressing, and other cultural practices. Monitors turfgrass health and identifies disease, pest, nutritional, and environmental issues. Assists with pesticide and fertilizer applications in accordance with applicable regulations and club policies. Operates and maintains turf equipment and assists with equipment troubleshooting and preventive maintenance. Monitors and maintains the irrigation system, including troubleshooting irrigation issues and coordinating repairs when necessary. Assists with water management and environmentally responsible turfgrass practices. Maintains accurate records of chemical applications, weather conditions, irrigation, maintenance activities, and other agronomic data. Helps coordinate golf course projects, renovations, and improvement initiatives. Maintains a clean, safe, organized, and professional work environment. Communicates effectively with the Superintendent, management, golf operations, and other club departments. Performs other duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent. Minimum Qualifications: Previous golf course maintenance experience required; experience at a private club or high-end facility preferred. Strong knowledge of turfgrass management, particularly warm-season grasses and South Florida growing conditions. Working knowledge of irrigation systems and water management. Strong organizational and leadership skills. Ability to operate and safely maintain golf course equipment. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to exceptional playing conditions. Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a team. Education and Experience: Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field preferred. Certificates/Licenses: Florida pesticide applicator certification, or the ability to obtain applicable licenses within a reasonable period. Valid driver's license. Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in hot, humid, and changing weather conditions.
