JOB SUMMARY
Successful Swim Instructors will know how to teach swimmers of various ages and skill levels effectively while ensuring safety in and around the water.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Promotes, acts and works in a manner consistent with the values of LGM.Develops effective swimming lessons based on student skill levelInstructs individuals or small groups of students in the waterDemonstrates various swimming techniquesObserves students performing the strokes and provides feedback to help them improveProvides constant supervision to keep all swimmers safeCompletes documentation and deciding when to move students to the next levelEnforces water safety and pool rulesShares feedback with parents on the sessionsAttends and actively participates in regularly scheduled staff meetingsDemonstrates a commitment to the work and success of the club and the Company by being service- and solution-oriented, having positive interactions with all club staff and members/guests, and meeting established quality, service and safety expectationsPerforms additional assignments per the direction of club or Company managersRegular and punctual attendance on site for all scheduled shifts is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Understands safety rules and precautions related to swimming pool operations.Adept at techniques utilized in the American Red Cross or YMCA lifesaving certification, CPR and basic first aid while maintaining a calm demeanor.Ability to perform job duties efficiently while managing frequent interruptions and/or dealing with stressful or potentially hazardous situations.Excellent customer service skills.EDUCATION AND EXPERIANCE
Current American Red Cross or YMCA Basic Lifesaving or equivalent certification, CPR and First Aid Certifications. Certifications should be current and up to date at all times.Previous experience preferredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Seeing and hearing: read documents, computer screen, answer phones, communicate in person 50-100%Standing and walking 25-50%Climbing, stooping, squatting and kneeling 0-24%Dexterity: utilizing phone, typing, writing and driving 50-100%Lift in excess of 50 pounds 0-24%
