About this position
The Sanctuary Golf Club, a prestigious, Member‑owned private golf club located on Sanibel Island, FL is hiring for a full‑time, year‑round golf course grounds/landscaping/trimming position.
Our Green and Grounds team is responsible for assisting in the appearance and safety of the world‑renowned golf course, bordered by a wildlife refuge and surrounded by nature preserves, lakes and mangrove forests. The Sanctuary is recognized as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary through its partnership with Audubon International, reflecting our dedication to preserving the Island's rich natural environment and delicate ecosystem.
We are looking for a motivated and professional individual who will provide the highest level of service and golf course conditioning to our Membership!

Operational hours begin at 6:00 a.m. and include shortened, rotating weekend workdays.
Requirements
Maintain the golf course and landscaping on and around the course, Clubhouse and other Club facilities, including parking lots:
Assist in daily course set‑up and other golf course maintenance related tasks.
Plant and maintain ornamental shrubs and trees; cut grass, weeds and bushes; trim and feed shrubs and trees; remove cuttings; rake and blow leaves.
Mow greens and fairways as instructed, rake bunkers.
Prepare and lay sod; prepare soil plant beds and establish plantings by seed or transplants.
Load and unload materials.
Dig holes and trenches to maintain or construct irrigation and drainage lines.
Properly inspect all equipment before leaving the facility to ensure proper working order.
Operate equipment in a safe, efficient manner as trained and instructed, previous equipment experience preferred.
Assist in keeping the maintenance shop, restrooms and break rooms clean and presentable.
Positive, professional and reliable team member who takes pride in their work and representing The Sanctuary.
Act courteously and respectfully toward golfers and Members, vendors, coworkers, on and off the golf course.
Attend staff and required Club meetings.
Perform other tasks assigned by Green and Grounds management.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Physical stamina sufficient to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
Complete manual labor for long periods of time while walking (including moving on uneven surfaces), bending, crouching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, climbing, stooping, twisting, turning and/or reaching overhead.
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
Work in and around potentially hazardous substances, including chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, motor fuel, fumes, airborne particles.
Required to work outside for extended periods of time: exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; exposure to dust, pollen, grass and other allergens, high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Required use of personal protective equipment, such as a respirator, gloves, earplugs, eye guards/visors, boots and hat.
