About the Role
Job Summary
The Golf Course Maintenance Equipment Manager is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overall management of all golf course maintenance equipment. This role ensures that equipment is safe, reliable, and available to support daily course conditioning operations. The Equipment Manager works closely with the Superintendent and maintenance staff to maintain high standards of turf quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on all golf course maintenance equipment, including:
• Mowers (walk, triplex, fairway, rough)
• Utility vehicles and carts
• Tractors, loaders, and specialty turf equipment
• Small engines and handheld tools
• Maintain sharpening, grinding, and setup of cutting units to manufacturer and agronomic specifications
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and fuel system issues
Equipment Management
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules
• Maintain accurate service records, parts inventories, and equipment logs
• Recommend equipment replacement, upgrades, and rebuild schedules
• Coordinate warranty work and vendor repairs as needed
Shop & Safety Management
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance facility
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and safety regulations
• Train staff on proper equipment operation and basic maintenance
• Enforce safe work practices and equipment use standards
Inventory & Budget Support
• Manage parts inventory and ordering to control costs and minimize downtime
• Assist in developing and managing the equipment maintenance budget
• Track expenses related to repairs, parts, and capital equipment
Collaboration & Support
• Communicate daily with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents regarding equipment needs
• Support maintenance crew during peak operations and special projects
• Assist with emergency repairs during tournaments or critical course conditions
