About the Role
## Director of Golf Instruction
As the Venue Director of Instruction, you'll be at the heart of Topgolf's golf instruction platform. You'll teach Topgolf Guests in individual lessons and group settings, manage our leagues, tournaments, and player development series, and take responsibility for scheduling lessons across the venue. Beyond instruction, you'll also manage and develop the coaching and sales skills of our Lead Instructors, creating a strong instructional team.
## What You'll Be Doing
Your day-to-day work will involve coordinating, scheduling, and maintaining Guest lessons while utilizing swing analysis technology and learning theories. You'll integrate teaching aids into all programs and use your marketing and community outreach efforts to grow the golf instruction platform at your venue. Directing tournaments and summer camps will be part of your role, as will working closely with the events team to promote and teach lessons at various events.
Walking the tee line during peak times gives you the opportunity to market our platform and offer impromptu lessons to Guests. You'll supervise information requests about lesson schedules and instructional series, manage and implement player development ideas at the venue level, and oversee club fitting, club repair, and general equipment maintenance. Managing inventory of golf services tools, technology, and teaching aids is essential, as is meeting budgetary requirements for the entire golf services program.
## What You'll Bring
You'll need a minimum of 2-3 years of experience teaching golf lessons with proven ability to coach golfers of different skill levels. Sales experience of 2-3 years is required—you understand how to build relationships and convert instruction into sales. PGA Class A Certification is preferred, and you should have a track record managing an independent golf lesson program.
Your coaching ability should be exceptional, and you'll need strong social and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all Topgolf Guests. Familiarity with swing analysis technology and launch monitor technology is important for the role. You're someone who develops positive, ongoing relationships with Guests and brings excellent communication, time management, and organization skills to everything you do.
Beyond the technical side, you work well on a team, bring genuine energy and enthusiasm, and demonstrate self-awareness paired with receptivity to change and integrity. You're able to work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods and comfortable with varied shifts that include evenings, weekends, and holidays. You'll also need the ability to stand and walk for long periods, including maneuvering up and down stairs.
## Compensation and Benefits
The base salary ranges from $43,000 to $50,000 depending on your experience, plus high monthly uncapped commission on lessons taught and sold. The position includes a merit plan, full benefits package, 401(k) with company match, and a lucrative PTO package. You'll also receive free play at Topgolf venues and half-price food. Other benefits include health, dental, and vision coverage, along with free access to a mental well-being platform for those who qualify.
