About the Role
Job Purpose:Assist the Head Golf Professional in running golf operations at the private club Valleybrook Golf & Country Club. Responsibilities include training and supporting outside golf services, managing retail operations in the golf shop, assisting with merchandising and inventory, building relationships with members, organizing and executing tournaments and special events, providing golf instruction, and training golf staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
Including, but not limited to:
Outside Services
• Make the best first impression to set the tone for the day
• Greet members and guests in a professional and welcoming manner
• Assist with bag handling, cart staging, and cart cleanliness
• Prepare carts with towels, water, scorecards, tees, and other amenities
• Maintain practice areas, including the driving range and short-game areas
• Support pace-of-play and daily course flow as directed by golf leadership
• Retrieve, clean, and store golf carts at the end of play
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness of the bag drop, cart barn, and staging areas
• Communicate effectively with golf staff to anticipate member needs
• Follow all safety guidelines and club service standards
Pro Shop Duties
• Communicate course conditions to members and guests upon arrival and at tee time check-ins
• Ensure all systems, point-of-sale, and tee sheet operations run smoothly
• Review daily tee sheets, especially on busy days (Thursday–Saturday), to confirm weekly leagues and events are blocked correctly
• Spot-check apparel to ensure all items are sold under the correct SKU
• Assist with merchandising, inventory control, and invoice management
• Contribute to forecasting the next year’s merchandise plan
Driving Range Duties
• Keep range balls fully stocked at all times
• Set up bag stands and range ball boxes in an organized and clean manner
• Rotate ropes throughout the week to ensure proper range rotation
• Pick and maintain the driving range efficiently using multitasking and time management skills
• Monitor wet areas to prevent equipment from getting stuck
First Tee
• Ensure tee sheet is managed properly and all members tee off according to schedule
• Greet members and guests in a friendly, positive manner
• Maintain visibility and engagement on the range, first tee, and throughout the course
Team Communication
• Set short-term weekly goals for outside golf staff (e.g., pressure washing carts, cleaning/stocking the range)
Tournaments and Golf Events
• Create to-do lists to ensure events meet member expectations
• Review planning and execution of tournaments and golf events
• Provide creative ideas for event formats, tee gifts, and scheduling (tee times or shotgun starts)
Education & Player Development
• Promote instruction and player development across all membership demographics (men, women, seniors, juniors)
• Execute an exceptional junior program, including PGA Junior League coordination
• Plan, schedule, and run weekly practices, matches, and check-ins
• Develop pairings and strategies based on player dynamics
Areas of Responsibility: Parking lot, cart barn, cart staging area, patio, driving range, breakroom, cart washing area
Education:
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required; college education preferred with a focus on golf operations, sports recreation management, hospitality, business, or finance preferred
• PGA Associate Level 2 required, or willing to consider and train Level 1 with private club experience
License or Certification:
• Valid Driver’s License (Required)
Qualifications:

• Availability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays
• Experience in customer service or retail, with knowledge of golf operations, equipment, and etiquette
• Organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a proactive attitude
• Knowledge of golf merchandise, apparel, and equipment
• Familiarity with POS systems (e.g., Lightspeed, ChronoGolf) and cash-handling procedures
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift
• Lift and carry golf bags up to 50 pounds
• Work comfortably outdoors in varying weather conditions
Schedule Requirements:
• Availability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays
