About the Role
Job Summary
The Golf Operations Coordinator is responsible for assisting the daily operations of Sunset Valley Golf Club and The Highland Park Golf Learning Center, including both inside and outside services. This position ensures that Golf Desk Attendants, Golf Range and Cart Attendants, and other front-line staff deliver exceptional customer service, maintain efficient operations, and create a welcoming environment. Responsibilities include coordinating tee times, outings, leagues, and events; overseeing golf cart and range operations; managing retail and POS transactions; and ensuring all activities align with Park District policies, procedures, and service standards.
During the months of March through November, this person will be required to work evenings and weekends at Sunset Valley Golf Club or The Highland Park Golf Learning Center.
During the months of December, January and February this position will be required to work at other assigned Park District facilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Golf Operations Coordinator will provide direction to seasonal and part-time Golf Desk Attendants, Golf Range and Cart Attendants, and other assigned staff at Sunset Valley Golf Club and the Highland Park Golf Learning Center. The Golf Operations Coordinator will serve as the manager on duty when the Director of Golf, General Manager of Golf Operations, or the Golf Operations Supervisor are not present.
Essential Job Duties
• Assist in all front-end and customer service golf operations duties including pro shop, driving range, mini golf and golf cart services.
• Assist with staff scheduling, training, and performance for Golf Desk Attendants and Range/Cart Attendants.
• Provide exceptional service to all patrons, staff, and guests; greet and assist patrons with inquiries, concerns, or needs in a professional manner.
• Ensure facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained, including clubhouse, cart barn, range building and patio.
• Maintain positive working relationships with contracted food and beverage vendor.
• Enforce Sunset Valley Golf Club and Highland Park Golf Learning Center's rules and regulations as needed.
• Maintain accurate records for sapphire memberships, rounds played, buckets sold, weather, and daily financial transactions.
• Ensure patrons begin their rounds on time and at their correct tee times.
• Maintain the golf cart fleet, ensuring carts are cleaned, fueled/powered, and properly staged.
• Load and unload golf bags for patrons.
• Manage cash handling, daily sales report, and bank deposits; assist retail sales and maintain inventory levels.
• Maintain accurate POS records and ensure system integrity.
• Establish a cart rotation and maintenance schedule; perform weekly inspections.
• Maintain cart staging area supplies (scorecards, pencils, seed bottles).
• Assist driving range operations, including range and ball collection, cleaning, and basket organization.
• Coordinate with the Director of Golf, General Manager of Golf Operations and Golf Operations Supervisor for leagues, outings, tournaments, and private events.
• Support setup and breakdown for events, parties, and leagues.
• Support marketing and communication initiatives related to golf programs and promotions.
• Reports any problems, unsafe conditions, behavior issues and accidents to the Assistant Director.
• Prepare all accident and incident reports for the areas of responsibility and forward to the appropriate personnel.
• Ensure proper signage, displays, customer flow throughout facilities.
• Assist with preparation of annual operating budget recommendations, including revenue and expense forecast.
• Assist with small maintenance tasks and communicate larger facility issues to management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: High School Degree or GED equivalent. Associates degree, or two (2) years of appliable coursework, in golf operations or a related field preferred. Prior experience in a golf course, golf club, hospitality, or customer service role is desired. Knowledge and understanding of the game of golf.

Classification: Full-Time, non-exempt
Wage Range: $24.47-$27.00 per hour

Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in an indoor office and golf shop environment and outdoors at a golf facility. Employee may be exposed to walking on uneven outdoor surfaces. Employee may be exposed to flying objects like golf balls. Exposure to varying weather conditions during outdoor activities may occur - heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and loud on occasion.
