About the Role
Orchard Lake Country Club is seeking an entry level assistant professional or apprentice to join their team of golf professionals for the 2026 season. This position is ideal for candidates considering a career as a golf professional, with a variety of duties aligned with the first phase of the PGA’s certification curriculum and ample support and supervision from five class A professionals. Orchard Lake is a dynamic, family-oriented club with a wide variety of programs and an expectation for a premier golf experience and service level. The ideal candidate will have a people-focused service mindset and bring an eagerness to learn and develop to this position. As a pre-assistant position, the successful candidate who performs well will be given strong consideration for assistant golf professional opportunities at the club in the future as well as assistance in acquiring a winter position through the golf professionals’ network of colleagues.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Play a lead role in the golf services operation with a focus on proactive daily member service.
– Complete daily tasks including tee sheet management, member billing, and the management of pace of play.
– Provide instruction as part of our junior golf program, including the summer camp, PGA Junior League teams, and/or the Motown Cup.
– Assist in the supervision of the golf services support staff.
– Assist in the training and management of the caddie program staff.
– Provide retail support in the golf shop, including member service, sales, and merchandise displays.
– Assist the team of golf professionals in the execution of men’s, women’s, junior, and family oriented golf events.
– Complete other duties as directed and in partnership with the team of golf professionals.
– Shadow the golf professionals as time allows to continue professional development.
– Participate in regularly scheduled meetings regarding club programming.
– Set and work toward professional goals with the support of our team.
This position has a flexible start and end date depending on winter employment needs, beginning between early April and early May and concluding between late September and late October.
