Position Overview The Sea Pines Resort is seeking an Assistant-in-Training to join the Golf Course Maintenance team at Atlantic Dunes by Davis Love III. This role provides the opportunity to learn on a modern, award-winning course that emphasizes creativity, sustainability, and natural coastal beauty. The AIT will gain broad turf management skills while working in an innovative environment. Unique Opportunities at Atlantic Dunes • Maintain a modern seaside course designed by Davis Love III, blending natural dunes, native vegetation, and ocean-inspired aesthetics • Learn techniques for environmentally sensitive maintenance, including wildlife habitat preservation and coastal water management • Participate in renovation-style practices that emphasize course playability and design intent • Gain hands-on experience balancing championship conditioning with sustainability initiatives Learning & Development Objectives The Assistant-in-Training will: • Learn daily maintenance practices that ensure championship-level playing conditions • Gain practical experience with pesticide and fertilizer applications • Develop skills in irrigation operation, hand watering, and water management strategies • Participate in course improvement projects, renovations, and cultural practices • Shadow superintendents and assistants to understand leadership, scheduling, and crew management Core Responsibilities • Assist with daily course setup: cup cutting, bunker maintenance, and mowing practices • Operate a variety of turf equipment, including mowers, rollers, and aerifiers • Support fertilizer and pesticide handling, calibration, application, and record keeping • Participate in irrigation inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs • Lead small crews on projects and daily assignments as experience grows • Contribute to tournament and event preparation, including the RBC Heritage Professional Development Opportunities • Mentorship from Golf Course Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents • Exposure to three distinct championship courses and their unique maintenance practices • Networking with industry leaders, vendors, and PGA TOUR professionals • Career growth opportunities within The Sea Pines Resort and the turfgrass industry Candidate Qualifications • Strong work ethic, reliability, and eagerness to learn • Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team • Passion for the turf industry with the goal of advancing into leadership roles • Basic understanding of turf maintenance practices preferred, but not required • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
