2nd Assistant Golf Professional Job Duties & Responsibilities:
• Supervise, coach and evaluate new and existing staff including starters, outside service attendants and retail attendants
Assist in the reporting and management of financial labor budgets
Develop recommended labor efficiency as needed
Encourage, mentor, coach, train and develop team members to ensure their maximum value so that the guest experience is realized
Hold all team members accountable for their areas of responsibility in accordance with W.E.L.L Standards
Responsible for daily opening & closing procedures ensuring the shop is cleanly, stocked, and prepared to meet club standards
Lead daily huddle meetings in the absence of Head and Lead Golf Professionals
Regularly directs the work of multiple employees, assigns work, monitors performance, adjusts staffing, ensures productivity, and oversees daily operations.
Participates in interviewing, selection, hiring, performance evaluations, coaching, corrective action, promotion recommendations, and termination recommendations.
Complete daily operational reviews of all golf operations members facing and heart of house areas
Acting Manager on Duty in the absence of the Head or Lead Assistant Golf Professional
Control and manage daily tee sheets and play; ensure efficient and correct guest check in and fee collection
Review and process invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper approvals, and timely manner
Prepare reports, operational analyses, and recommendations for leadership
Provide leadership in member engagement, including but not limited to continuous engaging with members and guests on the golf course and practice facility
Manage pace of play initiatives and policies regularly throughout daily course rides
Resolve member concerns utilizing W.E.L.L standards and individual judgement
Assist in managing and executing internal and external golf events to ensure events run efficiently and professionally
Actively involved in retail management and sales within their respective club
Assist in the leadership of merchandising including receiving, displaying, taking inventory, and promoting golf shop sales
Ensures golf shop is being kept clean and organized
Provide instruction to guests and members including individual lessons, clinics, and junior camps as needed
Ensures practice facility is maintained, and members are provided with a positive practice experience to include clean practice balls, proper bag stand setup, daily rotation of hitting areas, and clean range mats, as needed
Assist in management of golf cart fleet to include maintenance and ensure golf carts are up to The Landings Golf & Athletic Club standards for cleanliness and safety as directed by the Head Professional
Enforce Club rules and policies with members and guests
Enforces USGA rules and golf with members and guests
Assure that all work is performed within the club’s safety standards
Attend weekly meetings as needed
Plays golf with members when approved by the Head Golf Professional
Maintains personal and professional development
Serve as a leader and ambassador for our Club in industry events and tournaments.
All other tasks as assigned
2nd Assistant Golf Professional Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
Proficiency in computer skills to include Microsoft Office programs, e-mail, and SharePoint
High School diploma or equivalent
Make progress towards PGA membership and maintain active classification in the PGA of America
A member of or apprentice with the Professional Golfers Association of America with experience at a private club with a high volume of play, preferred
Passing of PGA Players Ability Test preferred
2nd Assistant Golf Professional Critical Skills:
Positive and proactive attitude relating to guest service and overall guest experience
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to communicate on various levels to include team members, the senior leadership team, guests, vendors, and contractors, at all times showing tact and diplomacy
Ability to follow company policy/procedures, complying with all administrative responsibilities
2nd Assistant Golf Professional Physical Demands:
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, sit, reach, grasp, talk, hear, listen, bend, twist, kneel and perform repetitive motions
Ability to push, pull, lift, carry or otherwise move up to 20 lbs.
Ability to work in a variety of outside weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind and rain
Ability to work varied shifts inclusive of evenings, weekends, and holidays
Playing golf and/or hitting golf balls 10% of shift
