Overview: Responsible for supervising mowing and gardening operations for the resort and assisting with projects. Ensuring all assigned maintenance tasks are carried out correctly, efficiently and safely
Responsibilities:
Serves as a leader in the Golf Landscape departmentAssists with generating daily work assignments, overseeing and working with a crew of employees on those assignments.Assists with on-site training of grounds personnel, equipment operators and technicians.Performs maintenance activities in absence of the resort landscape manager.Monitors labor expenses to budgetEnsures employees are trained and work is performed in a safe mannerWorks with vendors and negotiates contractsSupervises employees including interviewing, selecting, hiring and training staffReviews direct reports on an annual basis in a timely mannerSupervises mowing and gardening operationsEnsures safety procedures are followed by the crewInspects areas of responsibility and makes lists of work to be doneSets up beds with plant materialAssists with projects as needed and performs other duties as assignedQualifications:
Ability to communicate complex ideas and proposals effectively so others will understandAbility to listen and understand information and ideas presented verbally and in writingMust possess strong interpersonal and organizational skillsPossess knowledgeable in general turf grass agronomic practices and landscape techniquesHigh school diploma or GED, requiredPossess valid registered Virginia Pesticide Applicator’s License or possess the ability to obtain one within 90 daysMinimum of 3 years’ experience at the Assistant Superintendent levelPossess valid driver’s licenseMinimum of a two-year Turf/Agronomy degree or related fieldAbility to operate manual hand tools and power hand toolsAbility to lift, push, pull a minimum of 50 poundsPossesses knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions and safety regulations related to landscape activities and other work related precautionsAbility to stand for long periods of time, withstand constant movement of extremities, bend at waist and perform repetitive hand, wrist and foot action, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and withstand prolonged exposure to sunlight and extreme temperatures and outside weather conditions (heat/cold, rain/snow) for up to eight hour shiftGood hand/eye/foot coordination requiredAbility to work days, nights, weekends, holidaysApply to this job
