Assistant Superintendent Golf

Job Summary Supports the Superintendent in managing daily maintenance, supervising staff, and ensuring high-quality playing conditions. Key responsibilities include turf management (mowing, fertilization, chemical applications), irrigation system operation, and overseeing maintenance crews. Act as the on-site grounds leader in the Superintendent's absence. Essential Functions - Have a strong understanding of turf grass culture, course conditioning, construction and reconstruction, the proper use of fertilizers and pesticides as well as irrigation equipment operation and maintenance; - In absence of the Course Superintendent lead maintenance efforts for golf course - Supervises personnel in various maintenance job responsibilities; - Operates all equipment; instructs others on safety operations and proper use; - Purchases necessary parts, tools, and supplies to support the shop and golf course maintenance in accordance with County policy; - Help plan, schedule and monitor all daily operations including insuring adequate staffing schedules for daily needs as well as coordination of leave requests; - Maintains records of minor and major maintenance repairs and safety inspections; - Assists with the preparation, implementation and monitoring of annual operating and capital budget for golf course; - Performs other duties as assigned. - Minimum of 2 years of experience in golf course maintenance - Knowledge of turf management practices and irrigation systems - Strong leadership and communication skills - Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions - Degree in Turfgrass Management or related field preferred
