About the Role
## Key Role Overview
The Director of Food & Beverage provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all food and beverage functions at the club, partnering closely with the General Manager and Executive Chef to deliver exceptional member experiences. This role is accountable for service excellence, revenue growth, profitability, vendor management, staffing, training, and regulatory compliance while fostering a culture of teamwork and high standards.
## What are the Key Responsibilities?
- Maintain exceptional member relations and facilities by creating a high-quality environment through staffing, programming, service operations, and maintenance.
- Identify and implement opportunities for member events and food and beverage services to meet ongoing member needs and achieve revenue objectives.
- Communicate with members both individually and in groups to ensure the club consistently exceeds their expectations.
- Work with member committees to develop and implement activities and events that enhance member engagement.
- Interact professionally with members and guests, accommodating changes and last-minute requests as needed.
- Develop and execute aggressive sales, marketing, and net revenue plans for food & beverage in accordance with budgeting and revenue guidelines.
- Ensure expense control systems are in place, closely monitor department expenses (including payroll-to-revenue ratios), and utilize forecasting systems.
- Oversee scheduling of all service personnel, manage labor cost budgeting, and ensure accurate time reporting and adherence to time management policies.
- Implement service recovery programs and ensure staff are trained to handle member concerns.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and develop staff committed to service excellence, career advancement, and retention.
- Create and maintain an excellent work environment focused on teamwork, mutual respect, and achieving service and revenue objectives.
- Administer appropriate compensation packages in line with labor laws.
- Lead and participate in department head meetings, F&B meetings, and regular service training; conduct daily line-ups to review events and menus.
- Oversee procurement, scheduling, payroll responsibilities, vendor relationships, and compliance with club policies and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee food and beverage operations for private events, attend BEO meetings, determine product and staffing needs, and ensure smooth event execution.
## What are the Required Qualifications?
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years in club management or a related role within the Food & Beverage industry.
## What are the Preferred Qualifications?
- Bachelor's degree.
- Preferred certifications: Food Handlers Certificate, Alcohol Safety, STAR Service Certification, ABC Certification, CPR Certification.
- Proven experience managing multi-million-dollar operations with strong financial decision-making ability.
- Experience handling highly confidential member and employee data.
- Knowledge of service training and alcohol management.
- Proficiency with computer tools including spreadsheet software, strong communication skills, and demonstrated leadership.
- Completion of food & beverage online training modules (service, host, bartender, server assistant, banquet server, beverage cart attendant, kitchen/employee training, F&B refresh, culinary safety, food safety, alcohol safety).
