Seasonal: Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend
40 Hours Per Week | Weekends and Holidays Required
Founded in 1898, Scarsdale Golf Club is a family-friendly, sports-oriented Club, strongly rooted in
the local community. Our pool is more than a facility, it is a place where friends and family gather
together as a community to relax and socialize, many even consider the club their summer home.
Position Overview
The Assistant Pool Director reports directly to the Aquatics Director and serves as the primary ondeck
leader throughout the day. This individual plays an essential role in ensuring the pool operates
smoothly, safely, and professionally while maintaining the warm, welcoming atmosphere our
members expect.
The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who anticipates needs, takes initiative, and leads
with both confidence and approachability. While the Aquatics Director oversees the broader vision
and behind-the-scenes operations, the Assistant Pool Director ensures that daily execution
reflects the club’s standards and culture.
This position requires availability from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend,
including evenings, weekends, and holidays (Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day).

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Supervision
• Supervise and support lifeguards and pool gate attendants.
• Create and manage weekly schedules.
• Provide clear expectations and consistent oversight to ensure professionalism and
accountability.
• Maintain appropriate leadership boundaries while fostering a respectful and positive team
environment.
• Assist with onboarding and training seasonal staff in accordance with American Red Cross
standards.
• Address routine staff concerns thoughtfully and escalate matters to the Aquatics Director
when necessary.
• Lead by example through reliability, preparedness, and steady on-deck presence.
Pool Operations & Safety
• Assist with pool opening and closing procedures at the start and end of the season.
• Enforce club policies and safety rules consistently and fairly while ensuring compliance
with Westchester County and New York State health and safety regulations.
• Maintain organized and accurate records, including:
o Chemical logs and water testing records
o Incident/accident reports
• Monitor and maintain proper chemical balance in coordination with the pool company and
maintenance team.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are fully stocked and operational.
• Respond promptly and professionally to emergencies using Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and
First Aid training until EMS arrives.
Member Experience & Facility Oversight
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly pool deck, locker rooms, and surrounding areas.
• Conduct regular facility checks and communicate repair or safety concerns proactively.
• Maintain a visible, approachable presence on deck.
• Interact warmly and professionally with members and guests, contributing to a positive and
service-oriented atmosphere.
• Recognize opportunities to improve operations or member experience and take thoughtful
initiative.
Qualifications
Certificates
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (including CPR/AED and First Aid).
• Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
• Lifeguard Management (LGM) certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
Knowledge/Experience
• Strong understanding of pool chemistry and water management.
• Prior supervisory experience required.
Skills
• Excellent communication skills with both staff and members.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
• Ability to work in hot, humid, slippery and wet conditions.
• Perform first aid and rescues, if/when required.
• Tolerate chemical smells & frequent exposure to cleaning agents.
• Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping, pulling, & repetitive motions.
• Continuous standing and walking.
