Golf Course 2nd Assistant Superintendent

Second Assistant Superintendent Position, Stone Oak Country Club is a private golf facility located in the greater Toledo, Ohio area. The 160-acre course was originally designed by S. P. Jermaine in the late 1940s as a nine-hole layout. In 1954, the course was redesigned and expanded into an 18-hole championship course by noted architect Robert Bruce Harris. The Second Assistant Golf Course Superintendent assists in the daily management and maintenance of the golf course and surrounding grounds. This position supports the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents in delivering exceptional playing conditions while supervising maintenance staff, ensuring safe operations, and upholding agronomic standards. The Second Assistant plays a key role in staff leadership, project execution, and maintaining the overall quality and presentation of the golf course. Educational/ Experience Requirements: · Certificate, two, or four year degree in Turfgrass Management, is preferred. · Two or more years of Golf Course experience. · The ability to obtain an Ohio Pesticide License in Turf within the first year of employment. Assistant Responsibilities but not limited to: § Hand watering greens (Using TDRs) § Mowing and rolling practices § Fertilizer and pesticide applications § Calibration of chemical equipment § Bunker maintenance § Irrigation/Drainage install and repair § Running small crews § Cultural practices (top-dressing, aerifying etc.) § Weed, insect and disease identification § Implementing IPM program § Seeding and sodding practices § Daily course set-up § All other aspects of turfgrass management $45,000 – $50,000 per year (Depends on Experience) Benefits: Health insurance, uniforms, golf privileges, 401k, bonus potential, paid vacation after 90 days, paid local and national dues after 1 year.
