<p>The stunning layout was designed by Arnold Palmer and the design team at Arnold Palmer Design Company (including Erik Larsen and Brandon Johnson, both NC State graduates).</p>
<p>The purpose of the facility is to provide a public golf course on the Centennial Campus of NC State University that serves as a venue for the<a href="https://gopack.com/sports/mens-golf"> men’s </a>and <a href="https://gopack.com/sports/womens-golf">women’s</a> golf teams. It also facilitates <a href="http://www.turffiles.ncsu.edu/">turfgrass</a> and stormwater research associated with the <a href="https://cals.ncsu.edu/">College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS)</a>. Likewise, the golf course serves as a teaching and training facility for the <a href="http://cnr.ncsu.edu/pgm/">Professional Golf Management (PGM) Program</a> in the <a href="https://cnr.ncsu.edu/">College of Natural Resources</a>. The course is playable for all skill levels and a challenge to low handicap players.</p>
<p>With breathtaking views of the Raleigh skyline and the world-renowned Centennial Campus, the course has become a favorite in the golf community. <p>Lonnie Poole Golf Course is the #1 Public Golf Course in Raleigh and the #14 Golf Course you can play in North Carolina according to the NC Golf Panel. </p>
<p>Recently underwent a massive greens conversion this summer changing over from bent grass to Ultradwarf Tif Eagle Bermuda. </p>
<p>LPGC is the host of several NCAA events, CGA and USGA Events as well as several cooporate and chartiy events.</p>
<p>LPGC has a thriving teaching operation with massive junior and ladies programs as well as ample opportunities for private lessons.</p>
