Position Summary
The Childcare Assistant provides a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment for children while parents utilize club amenities. This role supports evening, weekend, and event-based childcare programming and enhances the overall member experience at Oakwood Country Club.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Childcare & Supervision
Supervise children (primarily toddlers through age 10) in a safe and structured environment
Ensure all children are accounted for and maintain a secure check-in/check-out process
Follow all club policies related to safety and childcare operations
Programming & Engagement
Lead light activities such as games, crafts, and playtime
Create a fun, welcoming environment that encourages positive interaction
Adapt activities based on age groups and participation levels
Member Experience & Communication
Communicate professionally with parents/guardians regarding needs or concerns
Provide a high level of care and attentiveness to ensure a positive experience
Maintain a clean and organized childcare space
Operational Support
Support childcare coverage during events, fitness classes, and peak club times
Assist with light setup, cleanup, and organization of supplies and activity areas
Qualifications
Experience working with children (education, childcare, camp, or similar) preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to create a safe, engaging, and structured environment
Flexible availability, especially evenings and weekends
CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Additional Notes
Parents/guardians must remain on Oakwood property while children are in care
Staff are not responsible for diaper changes
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Ability to frequently move, stand, and engage with children for extended periods
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds when assisting children or equipment
Work environment is active and may involve moderate noise levels
May be exposed to both indoor and outdoor environments
