Dear Head Golf Professional Candidate,
Since 1892, Out Door Country Club (“ODCC”) in York, Pennsylvania has offered a best-in-class country club experience to its members and guests. In its early years, the club was a gathering place for prominent men and women, who enjoyed tennis, croquet, bicycling and hiking. In 1959, the current clubhouse was built and Ault & Associates designed the walking-friendly layout, featuring six ponds and over sixty bunkers. Most recently, Central Penn Business Journal ranked ODCC the #1 golf course in Central, PA for 2016.
As a member of the ODCC Management Team, the Head Golf Professional will oversee the total golf operation and services offered including the golf shop, practice facilities, golf services areas, golf car fleet and supervision of the golf operations staff. The position will report directly to the General Manager. The primary duty is to promote an exceptional golf experience, and provide excellent services and programs for all our members and guests.
The Club has recently made the selection of Dick Smith, Jr. PGA as their new General Manager/ Director of Golf. This role will report directly to Dick. Dick has had a long tenure as the Director of Golf at The Legacy Club (NJ) as well as Manhattan Woods Golf Club (NY) and has a passion to help grow and develop his staff.
Experience Required
PGA Member for 2 plus years.
Essential Responsibilities
The Head Golf Professional will operate at both a tactical and strategic level, managing and continuously developing all aspects of the golf business. This involves providing a clear vision for its strategic direction, while taking personal responsibility for identifying additional sales and marketing opportunities; ensure customer service excellence is consistently delivered, and revenues and profitability are maximized. Golf operations include instruction, golf shop, locker room, outside golf services and golf specific sales and marketing.
Additional duties include organizing and coaching groups and individuals, stocking and running a profitable club shop in accordance with the approved buying plan, basic club repair and custom fitting service. It will include handling some of the administration of the golf club, organization of competitions, corporate days and instructional program’s. The ideal candidate will play a proactive role in the relationship management of the club to attract new members and retain the existing ones.
